Failure… Is It Really The Way To Success?

successA Moment Of Clarity

Yesterday, I watched a video posted by our friend and fellow entrepreneur Charles and all I can say is WHOA!!!  It got me fired up but it also really got me thinking! How many times do you need to fail in order to succeed?  Is failure really bad? And who do you have surrounding you that are helping you to get back up again when you do fail?

Failure isn’t all bad…

If everyone just quit when they couldn’t do something the first time, the whole world would be full of a bunch of losers!!!  True story.  If it wasn’t for the failure of those in our past we would not have the light bulb but thanks to Thomas Edison we can forever enjoy artificial light that works at the flick of a switch.  How about airplanes?  Thanks to the Wright Brothers we can now fly giant metal birds in the sky that literally weigh tonnes (who would have thought?). Yeah I know, you’ve heard it all before, but have you really given thought to the idea of failure and it’s direct relation to success?

Have you ever heard a story of a billionaire who didn’t have some sort of failure in their life?  Think about it… without failure, what would you have to learn from?  What would you use as your measuring stick?

Success Takes Work!

There is no way around it… there are no if’s and’s or but’s about it either!  If you don’t work at something how do you expect to become good at it?  Success doesn’t just fall into your lap when you wish for it.. and it’s not inherited either. Real success begins in the mind and what you focus on.

Next time you fail at something remember that you are the one who has control over how it affects you.  Will you allow it to fester and will you believe the lies you tell yourself that you are not good enough and that you will never amount to anything? or will you get back up and try again?  How many of us would not know how to ride a bike today if we never got back on when we fell off or crashed into the back of a parked car (my son did that once) when we were first learning?

When someone tells you that its easy to be successful and you believe them, the joke’s on you!  There really is something to the old saying try, try, and try again.  It has truth and it’s something we all should be living by.

Who do you know that has the success you desire?  Interview them and find out how they got there and I can guarantee you that every single one will tell you about the failures they had and the countless hours of work they did leading up to their success.

Bottom line is SUCCESS take work… PERIOD!!!  There is no shortcut.

How To Prepare Your Mind For Success

1.) Surround yourself with people who believe in you and will cheer you on.

2.) Understand that failure is not a bad thing, it’s necessary in order to recognize success when you achieve it

3.) Cast out all fear of failure and doubt – You will succeed if you keep trying!

4.) Try, try, and try again.

5.) Focus on the end result, not the just current state.

6.) Celebrate the small success’s and victories.

7.) Don’t underestimate the power of self talk – You have greatness within you… tell yourself that!
